Boiling Springs State Park

About This Project

Boiling Springs State Park in western Oklahoma is home to a natural phenomena of a boiling spring that was showcased in the 1930’s by a surrounding spring box and viewing shelter. The new plan replaces the existing, nondescript shelter with a new, Works Progress Administration era style shelter using logs and stone. The existing spring box has been modified to a more organic shape with applied stone for a more natural design. The former long handicap ramp that allowed people to get down to the spring location has been replaced with winding walkways providing the proper slope to meet ADA requirements. Flagstone paving areas have been added at the shelter and along the walkway. Additional parking and trailer pull-offs are incorporated for the expected increase in visitors, as well as improvements to the parks playgrounds.
