With the success and popularity of Claremore’s first splash pad, the City called on LandPlan to begin plans for the City’s next slash pad the following year. The splash pad includes polished stainless steel features, several powder coated elements, and a large selection of imbedded ground sprays that inspire creative and imaginative play for children of all ages. Three integral color concrete selections were utilized to help create a naturalized themed play environment. Seating and shade are always high priority so existing trees were carefully selected to remain along with new shade structures, concrete seat walls, and bench areas. Working closely with ODEQ on many splash pads, LandPlan was able to assist in the development of the new permitting process for flow through splash pads. Creating a concrete channel that would expose the flow through water to UV, the water is then de-chlorinated and safe to reenter Claremore Lake without worry of fish kill or contamination. Knowing that the channel would be a magnet for kids, LandPlan designed the channel in such a manner that it is a safe and enjoyable play feature independent from the splash pad footprint.
