About This Project
Scenic Lake Murray State Park Lodge, built in the late 1940’s, has reached a transitional phase in its service life. As a first step towards replacing these aging facilities and attracting new visitors to the Park, this study was undertaken to evaluate the available land, generate an area program, and propose a master plan for redevelopment. Through a series of design workshops with State Parks staff, Lake Murray Park staff, and other stakeholders, the team determined the type and quantity of lodging options, established the size and quantity of meeting and event spaces, and developed a comprehensive list of amenities and support facilities. Multiple schemes for arranging the various site components were explored. This project included a recommended master site plan, conceptual plans of the lodge, cabins, and other buildings, and perspective renderings illustrating key aspects of the design.
