Pawhuska is located along the Oklahoma Scenic Byway of the Osage Nation Heritage Trail between Bartlesville and Ponca City. As a gateway to the nearby Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Pawhuska has the history, charm and dynamic to become a multicultural destination for tourists and visitors. A revitalization of downtown’s streetscaping holds a vision to refill vacant retail spaces with artistic and energized businesses. Plans include new paved sidewalks trimmed with Osage motifs, pocket parks fitted with water walls, landscaping, sculptures and murals. Concepts of Pawhuska’s rich diversity that encompasses the Osage Indian, the Western Cowboy and Oil will be reinforced throughout the streetscape design. The Triangle building, in the heart of downtown, is planned as the beginning of a series of streetscape phases to reestablish this historic, multicultural, city and capital of the Osage Nation.
