Bentonville Streetscape

About This Project

Primary goals of the revitalization of Bentonville’s Courthouse Square were to maintain and preserve the historic nature of the site and integrity of the Square, while recreating a plaza that would acommodate activity and events to bring more people to the historic area during daytime and nighttime hours. LandPlan was able to increase pedestrian walkway widths while using large areas of open turf space to break up the hardscape and provide additional space for special events. Key features include new pedestrian surfaces and safe pedestrian crossings at street corners. Streets were reconfigured to provide a simple traffic pattern for much needed traffic calming. Street trees, lighting, brick paved intersections and a central fountain feature and other amenities were provided for visual interest within the square.
