Skiatook Central Park was the first project in a series of (5) projects that were aimed to help define a common theme for development with city projects to unify and bring a cohesive look and feel to Skiatook. An old Rails to Trails project that brought the Osage Trail to Skiatook was the central element in the theming. Old railroad timbers were replicated into vertical steel elements that are found throughout the city in monuments and location identifiers. Signage is a key identifier in Skiatook that is utilized to mark the Central Park, the Skiatook Sports Complex, the Osage Skiatook welcome sign, the Osage Trail extension north of Central Park, and the Gateway to downtown Skiatook. All of these projects across the city use the same building materials, colors, lighting, and finishes to help unify the elements creating the harmonious feel. A hierarchy of different sign sizes helps to determine appropriate locations for future sign recognition throughout the city.
